Kingi Tuheitia & Kuini Nga Wai Hono i te Po

Our task was to create a DLO about the passing of Kingi Tuheitia and how he brought unity during his reign as the Maori King. Kingi Tuheitia movement was to unite and bring people together. A few reasons why he did this was to preserve the Māori culture and language, and to bring peace, friendship, and respect between iwi’s and tribes in the Māori culture. We think that Kuini Nga Wai Hono i te po will carry on her father’s legacy by continuing to preserve the Māori culture and language, and to spread the word of unity around the world. We think Kuini Nga Wai Hono i te po will continue to acknowledge success and the Cook Island legacy of building a marae on Aitutaki, what her father Kingi Tuheitia had wanted.

This activity was intersting because I learnt how Kingi Tuheitia’s movement was to unite and bring people together.

Ancient Greek Olympics

For this activity, we learnt and also got explained about the Ancient Olympics.We awatched videos to understand where was the first ancient Olympics held in and also knowing what was there training and a daily routine diet. My favourt fact in the Ancient Olymoics was

when the Greek athletes shown up to Olympia for Olympics, it was a ruled since they had to shown up 1 month earlier to the Olympics, I believe that this was how they first started their diet/training for the event that was coming up. They for sure had to make sure they follow their exercise and diet routines, this diet contains healthy foods for instance olives, fish, barley cake, meet (goat, and bull). What they were not allowed to eat was wine, bread, and wheat.They were also not allowed to drink cold water, and they were not allowed desserts. If they did not follow their diet they will a horrible punished, and why I like it because it gives me more information about what happen if they don’t follow there daily routine diet.

I found this activity fun and really interesting because I never knew about the ancient olympics and also where it was held at.

Adventure Researching Project

This activity was about using our Searching skills to find five fun facts about states. For example, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston and San Francisco was the states that we have to find five fun facts about. This activity is also including how far is New Zealand to Los Angeles.

I found this Activity interesting and fun because I’m also learning some fun facts about the states we were doing for the Adventure Research project.

Two Word Two Minute

Today, we played a writing game that was called ‘2 words 2 minute’ challenge to write a description about ancient olympics but there was 3 rules and it was, don’t stress just guess, write as fast as you can and make sure it makes sentences. After sharing our ideas in our pairs about the things we knew or remembered about the ancient olympics. We created a list of words (vocabulary) that would help us write a description. We selected the words ‘Greece’ and ‘athletes’ for us to find out what we are going to do for the topic we have chosen.

We shared our ideas with our partner, and in a little while, we had 2 minutes to put those ideas into sentences. Soon After the time was up, we had 2 minutes to reread what we had written and make changes if anything didn’t make sense or if we had words and punctuation in the wrong place. When we finished checking we had 2 more minutes to carry on writing our descriptions.

This activity was enjoying and helpful because it helps me unlatch a new stragey in writing.

Healthy Eating

LS2 went on a trip and went off to AUT Millennium, we learned about healthy eating and also getting to know about what type of vitamins does veggies have and fruits.We also learned about healthy eating and had a talked about that protein should be usually served 2-3 time every day is because it basically repairs peoples bones and muscles.For this task I have made slides on canva to show what we have learned and also it explains about healthy eating and also shows so much infomation about what I have remembered what the AUT Millennium workers have taught us and told us about a few infomation about healthy eating.So I gatherd all what I have remembered and made it into a Canva slides that gives people on my blog infomation about healthy eating.

What I have been thinking about this task was really intresting because I learned about so much things (healthy eating) at the AUT Millennium so Thank you to them for giving us infomation about healthy eating.

Water Safety animation

LS2 went on a amazing trip to AUT Millennium.We had activitys that was in water and also we had rock climing and other stuffs. This task is about life jackets.For this we had a option between of making a animation or a DLO,For my option I picked to do a animation because me and my buddy wanted to show about what we have learned and to also show what we are trying to say.We discussed about what we think is Water safety and Life Jackets We used our smart searching skills and knowledge to make a Animation to show others on how to be safer while in water.We learnt so much skills about how to be more safer in water so we practice many things like huddle doggy paddling, and floating backwards.Water safety and Life Jackets are Important in lifes because they save, protected, and help people to stop drowning.

I found this Taks really fun because we get to talk abot what we have been doing during the week.Also another reason is that we get to use our heads and thing out of the box to save peoples lifes and I think me and my buddy did a good job.

Our Whenua

LI: To connect to the Whenua around PBS (our local area)

For this task we all (LS2) had a look at most of the streets around us and schools.Most of the streets have a meaning to it, for example Upham road was named after a man named Charles Hazlitt Upham.For what he has done in Crete, 1941 and also in Eygpt, 1942, an he was the only to earn this as a combat soldier. Charles Halitt Upham is one of New Zealand’s probably soldier.He also became one of only three people to win the Victoria Cross twice.We did some research about schools around us, we also did some research of the schools history and also where did they get there school name.For example, Glen Taylor, the name Glen was chosen in keeping with the other ‘Glen’ schools in the area, and for the Taylor came from the Taylor family who owned and farmed the land on which the school was built.

What I thought about this task was it was really intresting to know about other school history and also getting to know where dd they get there school name.

Catapult Research

For this activite, we learned and explained about diffrents catapults, these are the type of diffrent catapults we researched about and it was trebuchet, ballista and a mangonel.What we added was infomation about diffrent catapult, we also added facts and telling how does those differnt catapults work.Out of all of the catapults we researched my favourtie catapult was the Mangonel because it has a good big base and it puts a little damage to the enemies, and also the distance of how far it could go.

This task was intresting to me because I leanred about differnt catapults and and I never knew there was diffrent type od catapults because I thought it was only trebuchet.But I think it was also fun at the same time.

Matariki Star Design

LI: To plan, design and create a class star for Matariki that tells a story

For this task,I had to make a Matariki star art design that tells us a story for Matariki.For this design, I added a Maori pattern and why is beacuse it basiclly represents as a culture design and in the middle of the culture design it shows the 9 stars and for my reason why I added them is beacuse it represents the Maori Constellation.The colour that I have pick was green and it means growth, prosperity, and a natural world.In Matariki festivitys, green is often used in clothing and decorations to repsent the new growth.Green is also with the element of earth and represents the attachment between people and the land.

What I think about this Matariki star challenge was that it was really fun to see everyones Matariki star and also it was fun at the same time.What I think about my Matariki star is that I like what I have done and also Im proud of myself for what I have done and also I think my star looks nice.

Mt Wellington-Moment in time

Kia ora for this task is about moment in time.LS2 went on a amazing adventure going up Mangere and when we got up to the top we all leanred about Mangere and itś amazing history storys.Lately on we made a DLO by using heard, saw and lastly felt. For my heard I used footsteps beacuse while I was walking about Mangere I clould hear heavy footsteps.For my second one I used the view is beacuse when ur walking you can see the viwe and for my last one I used the wind beacuse it was really windey while walking up there.
